ISLAMABAD: Capturing, caging, transportation, supply, sale, purchase and export of the bird ‘Lali’ has been put under complete ban with immediate affect.
According to an official notification, the ban has been held under section 144 Cr.Pc by the Punjab Government in the entire jurisdiction of the province till August 31, 2016.
The order was issued in the light of reports that there was a huge surge in dairy animals’ skin diseases due to heavy infestation of ticks and blood parasites on skin, resulting in colossal loss to the productivity besides making them prone to become carriers of zoonotic diseases thus putting the life and safety in grave danger.
The indiscriminate practice of capturing, caging, sale and purchase of the bird had caused its shortage in the open environment thus limitising their natural activity of pick the parasites and ticks from the mammals’ skins which ultimately hampered the natural course of action of predator.
