LAHORE: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) conducted a two-day entrepreneurship programme in Islamabad and Lahore for school going children between 14-18 years.
The session titled, ‘An Entrepreneurship Adventure’, was attended by 30 participants from the prominent O and A levels’ schools of Lahore and Islamabad at the ACCA’s office in the aforementioned cities.
Students who attended the summer programme were given opportunities to make decisions, choices and learn from experience through hypothetical situations. The main purpose was to help them develop essential skills including entrepreneurship basics, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, working in a team and self-reliance.
First day of the programme revolved around business ideas and the importance of creativity. Students were taught that creativity was not just innate but it can be an acquired skill, one that they can improve with practice. The participants were taken through the process of developing creative ideas.
The second day involved activities around designing and packaging the product, effective communication, making a sales pitch and the magical world of promotion and marketing mix. The purpose of the activities was to help students think out of the box and come up with new ideas.
Maryam Shabbir, an A-Level student from The City School Alpha Campus remarked, “This programme exposed us to the innovative and creative world of entrepreneurship and it has enabled us to explore our own entrepreneurial mindset.”
